About Us and This Website

Ok, so this is mostly about me since I'm the technophile in the family, but welcome to our travelogue and digital photo album. It contains stories and pictures from some of our travels, photos of our families, and our home, and photos of our views of the world.

Photography has always been a part of my life. I worked in the photographic industry for several years long ago before returning to school (UF) to get bachelor's and master's degrees in Plant Sciences. The computer age allowed me to return to my love of photography through digital cameras, Photoshop and the web. I hope you will view my images and enjoy what I have to share.

Regarding our travels,  we do our own planning and make our own arrangements. The Internet is a major source of information and this section is our small contribution to the wealth of travel information. We encourage self-guided travel. If you do some homework about the places you want to visit, learn (at least) enough of the language to be polite (please, thank you, yes sir, no ma'am, where is the bathroom, etc), and be accepting of differences you will find, such a trip can be a most rewarding experience.

On the evening of December 17 and the morning of December 18, 2003, our house was destroyed by a fire. This event and its aftermath is documented here for Jeannie and I as much as for our family and friends. It was a cathartic process in response to a disastrous event in our lives.
